The Pioneer Woman and a Dog on a Rug

Many of you are familiar with the Pioneer Woman. Ree Drummand has gone from a professional city life to blogging fame as a devoted wife and homeschooling mom on a farm in middle America. Her blog has several sections ranging from ranch life, cooking, homeschooling, and photography. That’s how I found her. A homeschooling friend and photographer buff pointed me to the Pioneer Woman blog for a tip on Photoshop Actions. The photography section at thepioneerwoman.com frequently offers tips, contests, and photo assignments where hundreds of thousands of people respond with their own photos and witty comments. Over the last couple of years I’ve casually followed the assignments submitting to just two of them. I’ve also taken the opportunity to enter into a few of her give-away’s which nearly always involve camera gear.

In response to an assignment entitled “Mobile Phone Photos”, I submitted a shot I took a few months back of our dog Jackson. He was sleeping on an area rug we have in our living room. The image was taken with my iPhone 4S and edited with Instagram. Much to my surprise, Ree chose it from among the 243,739 (current count as of this posting) images submitted for mention on her blog.

Here’s the image. Click this to view the blog post on thepioneerwoman.com.
